Wilhelm Sitzius – my tip
Pure delight: our Sitzius Prestige Noir. The delicate flavour of blackcurrants and a hint of ripe figs pamper the palate – a great wine with a promising future.
Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle
The Queen of the Nahe vineyards
Just the name of this little piece of land on the middle Nahe shows already how important it was thousands of years ago. The name “Hermann” probably goes back to a place of worship dedicated to the messenger of the Gods, Hermes.
The vines that thrive on the soil consisting of slate and volcanic eruptive rock, porphyry and limestone have contributed significantly to the good reputation of the German Riesling. Unsurprisingly, the Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle has been the vineyard with the highest tax rate on the Nahe for over 100 years.
We obtain very sophisticated Rieslings from this magnificent steep slope which are highly acclaimed thanks to their refreshing minerality and invigorating fruit acidity.
